Former Councillor Jan Bott-Obi
It is with sadness that I advise Oscott residents in particular I
have learned that former Oscott Ward Councillor Jan Bott-Obi passed away on
Tuesday 26 February in City Hospital, Winson Green, Birmingham.
She was a Councillor on the Birmingham City Council, 6 May 1994 to May 1998,
During her time on the City Council, she served as a member on the
following Committees; Contract Services Committee A (1994-98), Appeals Sub
(1994-95 & 96-97), National Exhibition Centre / International Convention
Centre Committee (1994-98), Economic Development Committee (1995-96), Appeals
Sub (1995-96), Education Committee
(1997-98), Grants and Awards Sub (1997-98).
Also serving on the West Midlands Police Authority (1994-95).
Jan and I worked briefly together as Councillors and I remember she was very
proud to represent the Oscott ward.
Many may still remember her trade mark beret which she often worn
when out and about campaigning or meeting residents around the ward.
Jan was a kind and caring person who always tried to help those
she could.
My sympathy goes out to all her family and friends.
